Conclusion
You did it!!! You have submitted your proposal and Zahi Hawass chose yours!!!
You have learned a great deal about your past and how it has influenced the way you do things today. George Santayana said," Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." Is this true or are we products of the past even when we remember it? Will we affect future civilizations? To conclude your scope for this quest, I would like you to reflect on "perspectives" and speculate on the future. Do both activities below and then.... the head of the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University and the Mayor of your city have decided you deserve a weeks paid vacation for working so hard. Where will you go?... Egypt? :-)
Please complete the first two exercises and then the extra credit if you would like.
Activity 1
Perspective: Explore the different points of view of archaeologists and their speculations on the Ancient Egyptian culture. What makes one more credible than another? What do they use as evidence to back up their speculations? Use websites below. The purpose of this task is to expose you to the concept of perspective and speculation. This is just to initiate schema for future lessons. Just do your best.

Self-knowledge: Using a journal reflection, self evaluate your growth in understanding the Egyptians, archaeologists, and their own point of view. What were your beliefs before this unit? What are they now? How has this understanding rid you of some biases?
Activity 2
Time Capsule: Design a list of current items linked to Ancient Egyptian daily lives and how explain how they are linked. Then, speculate about future civilizations and what they will have and link from us. Compile a short list online of what we should put in our time capsule for future civilizations to understand our daily lives, communications, and developments. Explain why you chose these items. Choose no more than 10. Email this to your instructor.
Extra Credit:
Pyramid Poem: Develop a pyramid shaped poem using words progressively to show the link to current times. The poem must show the links from Ancient Egypt to current Western civilization. Bonus points will be given!
