Atlanta Area Ant/Beetle Arena Build Report
Lionel Vogt came down this
weekend to help build the new
arena. Here he is putting the floor
frame together. We used 2" square
steel tubing for the frame.
Here I am cutting out holes in the
frame corners for the bolts to hold
the frame to the corner posts. This
worked out really well to hold it
together straight.
This is a closeup of the assembled
corner. Tha is a 3/4" bolt holding
the cornerpost to the bottom. This
proved very strong.
And here is Lionel again, posing
with the end product of 5 hours
work. The wooden base will sit
inside the tubing on the bottom
supports. This will put the floor one
foot over the ground. That leaves
plenty of room for hazards...
The end of Day 2 arena build. We
finished the corner posts, finished
the top and assembled. Welded
hinges for the top lexan and set the
first piece of 1/2" MDF in place for
the floor. Unfortunately, where we
had the cuts done at the store were
1/2" off (Correct dimension,
incorrect cut). We took it apart and
took it home to finish it next
weekend.
