His father is unproven but speculated to be Dempsey Langston b.    1760 in Nansemond Co VA and possibly the son and heir mentioned in the will of Timothy Langston b. 1740-1745 in Virginia and Revolutionary Soldier. David married Sarah "Sally" Askew,  daughter of William and Louisa (Jackson) Askew about 1815 in Jefferson County, GA. It is unclear how David arrived in GA or if he was born there.

2. Gideon Rawls Langston b. 15 Nov 1825 in Hinds Co., MS, died 15 Aug 1890 and is buried in Old Silver Creek Cemetery where his tombstone reads “Son of David Langston”. Gideon married Melvina Adeline Sanders b. 8 Sep 1830 in Old Silver Creek, Lawrence Co., MS. They were married on 3 Apr 1845. Melvina died 1911 and is buried beside her husband.

3. Lewis Dempsey Langston b. 27 Sep 1848 in Old Silver Creek, Lawrence Co., MS, died 7 Sep 1910 is also buried in Old Silver Creek Cemetery. Lewis married Maranda J. Armstrong b. 7 Aug 1857 in Old Silver Creek. They married 15 Sep 1871. Maranda died 24 Mar 1925 in Old Silver Creek and is buried beside her husband.

4. Thomas Marshall Langston b. 29 Jan 1880 in Old Silver Creek, Lawrence Co., MS, died 10 March 1958 in Columbia, Marion Co., MS. Thomas married his second cousin, Mary Elizabeth Daniels b. 27 Nov 1882 in Old Silver Creek. They were married in 1901 but the exact date is unknown and no marriage record has ever been found. Mary Elizabeth died 22 Mar 1959 and both are buried in East Columbia Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion Co., MS.

5. Holly Shan Langston b. 11 Jul 1911 in Old Silver Creek, Lawrence Co., MS, died 12 Jul 1994 in Columbia, Marion Co., MS. Shan married Ouida Mae Massey on 11 Jul 1931 and they made their home in East Columbia, MS. Ouida Mae died 13 Aug 2001.  Both are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbia, Marion Co., MS.

I believe my line goes back to the Jacob Langston in Wayne Co. but I have found no real proof as to his parents. I believe he moved to Wayne (Dobbs) county from Nansemond Virginia around 1755, and that he was in someway kin to a John Langston.

* I believe the father of Jacob Langston to be Absolom (Absalom, Absolam) Langston; however, I found Absolom Langston in the Lenoir County, NC census of 1800. My probable dates on this Absolom Langston are b. 1749, d. 1819? I have not been able to reconcile my Lenoir County, NC, lineage with the Wayne County, NC lineage.

3. Isaac L. Langston was born abt. 1807 to John Langston and his 2nd wife Rebecca Childre Langston. Isaac m. Mary W. Daniel on Dec. 25, 1825 in Columbia Co., GA. By 1850, Isaac and Mary had moved to Jasper Co., GA  They are named in the 1850 census with 10 children. Isaac died Dec. 4, 1873 in Jasper Co. GA

4. David M. Langston was born Mar. 30, 1830 in Ga to Isaac L. Langston and Mary W. Daniel Langston. David M. m. first to Matilda: children: J. S. W.         A., J. J., I.M., Mattie Herndon and Pollie Griffin.

5. David M. Langston and Susie Brazil were married in Jasper Co, GA on Jan. 6, 1897. David died in Jasper Co., GA sometime after 1901. Susie left him    and moved away about this time.

6. David E. W. "Em" Langston, b. Apr 12, 1891 in Jasper Co, Ga to David M. Langston and Ruby Susie Anna Elizabeth Brazil. David "Em" Langston   died Apr. 20, 1954 in Dooly Co., GA.

William Hiram Langston bn 1841-43 census records show in Ar, but family stories say that he was about 6 and living in IL and went to get water at the river or well?, and when he returned to the house his parents and a couple of siblings had been killed by Indians. A family passing by took Wm Hiram in and took him to Ar with them. He knew his name was Langston

 

William Hiram Langston married Nancy Langston who was bn ca 1838 to Caleb and Martha Ragsdale Langston in Izard Co AR. Caleb was son of John and Nancy Ware/Weir Langston one of the original 5 Langston brothers that went to Izard Co Ar in 1814 from Union Dist. SC by way of Ky and IL, they were the sons of Caleb and Elizabeth ? Langston. William Hiram Langston died in 1910.

 

William Hiram and Nancy Langston had 6 children, my direct ancestor is William Jasper (Jaff) Langston bn 1870 d. 1951 married Margaret Hively she was bn 1874 and died 1914, they had 6 known children, of whom my grandfather was William Walker Langston bn 1893 died 1986. He married Gracie Hand i 1915 she was bn 1899 and d. 1984. They had seven children. My dad was one of 6 sons.

Recent dna results at this point in time does not support that assumption (4/14/2009) but for now, we will leave it until we get results in on descendants of Jesse and Absolom Langston before we start the search for the parents of Ephraim. The name of Ephraim is from J.J. Sams journal in which he made the statement that he and Nancy were cousins.

3. Jonathan Baker Langston (17 Oct 1837 - 12 Sep 1900) was born in Darlington County, SC. JB moved with his father and brothers to Florida and married Celia A McMillian (20 Jul 1843 - 1 Jun 1925) around 1860. Moved to neighboring Wakulla County, FL before 1880.
