Evina
Worden was born on 6 August 1867 at Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., NY; Birth date is 6 Aug 1869, per daughter Gladys Evina Borden Chapman's address book.
1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of
Renselaer Case Worden and
Minerva L. La Bonte. Evina Worden married
John Franklin Tipple, son of
John Henry Tipple and
Amelia H. Wing, on 27 May 1886 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., NY.
5 Evina Worden married
Aaron F. Borden on 15 June 1904 at Bayonne, NJ; It is possible that soon after the 1900 census was taken, Evina either visited or went to live with her sister Noella Tallmadge in New Jersey. This suggests that she met Aaron Borden there, especially since her second child with Borden was born there in 1908. (The first child named Noella died in infancy.).
6 Evina Worden married
Charles W. Goodrich on 1 July 1910 at Red Bluff, CA; A transcript of the marriage record (probably written by Mrs. James W. Goodrich) shows Charley W. Goodrich of Manton, CA married to Evina Worden Borden of Lowrey, CA on July 1, 1910 in an Episcopal Church in Red Bluff, Tehama County, CA. Evina Worden died on 18 May 1922 at Clinton, Dutchess Co., NY, at age 54; Thursday, at 7:15 a.m., of heart trouble.
7,8 She was buried on 21 May 1922 at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., NY; in plot with William and Noella Worden Talmadge.
Evina Worden appeared on the census of 1900 at Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., NY; Ref. T1210, Vol 34-1024, Dwelling 303, Family 354: Shown as head of household, widow, with children. Evina is listed as Evana in Anna Edna's baptismal record. Evina also had twin boys who died at age 9 of TB. According to her death certificate, her birth date is August 5, 1868. Informant was Pearl A. Tipple, 131 East 65th St. Her father was Renselaer C. Worden, mother Minnie LaBonte, husband Charles Goodrich at the time of death.
A newspaper reported the following:
"Married in San Francisco, California, October 1st [1864] by Rev. F. M. McAllister, Daniel Sewell of Sonora, Tuclumne County, California to Miss Elvira Worden, of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, N.Y."
This is certainly not our Evina; however, I wonder if she and this Elvira knew each other and if Elvira was the reason Evina went to California around 1900.
