     Henrich Coon Jr. was born before 9 January 1759. He was the son of Henrich Kuhn and Anna Gertraut Falckenberg. Henrich Coon Jr. married Margaret Schneider, daughter of Hermann Schneider and Margaretha Cool (Kohl), circa 1781. Henrich Coon Jr. married Catherine Cole, daughter of Abraham Cole and Catherine Berringer, circa 1795. Henrich Coon Jr. died on 4 April 1834.2 He was buried after 4 April 1834 at Cole Farm Cemetery, Saugerties, Ulster Co., NY.3,4,5
     Henrich probably lived in Clermont, N.Y., possibly moving late to Madalin or Upper Red Hook. This Henry had five children by each of two wives. (I have photos of his grave and home on Route 32 in Ulster County, NY.) His second wife, Catherine Cole, obtained pension benefits on his service with the Livingston Manor Regt., 10th NY Militia. He served in the Revolutionary War.

Jacob William Coon married Mary Catherine Shirts, daughter of Joseph Shirtz and Lena Reiffenberg, on 22 November 1870 at Methodist Church, Elizaville, Dutchess Co., NY; both of Clermont. The source noted is an unpublished list of records from subject church, cited in a letter from Kinship (Arthur M. Kelly) to Doris Wheeler, 9 Aug 1997. This record further shows Jacob to be a farmer.2 Jacob William Coon died on 23 May 1923 at Red Hook, Dutchess Co., NY, at age 77.3,4 He was buried after 23 May 1923 at Red Church Cemetery, Tivoli, Dutchess Co., NY.
     Jacob William Coon was employed as postmaster in Clermont before 1862. He appeared on the census of 1875 at Clermont, Columbia Co., NY; Family #8: COON: Jacob W. 30y, Mary C. 23y, Harry W. 1y; SHIRTS: Joseph 58y f-i-l, Helen 56y m-i-l, Andrew 21y b-i-l, all born Columbia County, NY. Jacob William and Mary Catherine had children baptized in Germantown and Upper Red Hook Dutch Reformed, Germantown and Churchtown Lutheran, and Rhinebeck German Reformed (now Lower Red Hook Lutheran) Churches. He was a landowner in 1844: Lot #69- 28 1/4 acres; Lot #73- 68 1/4 acres.
