Edmond Shearman was born in 1577 at Dedham, England. He was the son of Henry Shearman and Susan* Renee Lawrence. Edmond Shearman married Judith Angier at prob. England. Edmond Shearman died at New Haven, CT.
Edmond was the ancestor of our distant cousin, Am. Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman. Gen. Sherman was also the grandson of Taylor Sherman and Elizabeth Stoddard. Elizabeth was not a descendant of John Stoddard and Mary Foote; as we are (see Stoddards in this record). Gen. Sherman_s line of descent is as follows: Thomas, Henry, Henry, Edmond, Samuel, Deacon John, John, Daniel, Taylor, Charles, Wm. Tecumseh. It should also be noted that Gen. Sherman' s younger brother, The Hon. John Sherman (1833-1900) was a reknowned statesman. He served in both the House of Reps. and the Senate. After serving in the House, he was elected to the Senate in 1861 and served there until 1897. He was Sec. of the Treasury from 1877 to 1881 under Pres. Hayes and Sec. of State under Pres. McKinley. He emigrated circa 1632 from to Watertown, MA.
