Plants need soil organic matter to thrive. Organic gardening need not be an all-or-nothing chemical-free proposition, but can be as simple as adding a little mulch or compost to your current practices. Chances are your results will improve so dramatically that you will become a "true believer," but there's nothing wrong with that either.
