A person's sexual orientation is nobody's business but their own. When the military adopted their "don't ask, don't tell" policy none of the dire consequences predicted by it's opponents materialized, primarily because the policy really only acknowledged the status quo.
Good fiction often reveals a more general or timeless truth than nonfiction. Amazon.com's inclusion of both fiction and nonfiction in this category is just bad indexing.
