Please read below to find out about Ms. Dismuke's grading policies. 1. How many times will a test count? All tests will count twice in the gradebook. 2. What about homework? I will assign homework in each class. Students begin each semester with a homework grade of 100. For each missed assignment, students lose 5 points. All assignments should be written in your student's agenda. 3. Will students have quizzes? Absolutely. Students in Science will have frequent vocabulary quizzes to help them keep track of the words they are being given each week. They are responsible for writing these words down each day in class. Students might also have the occasional quiz in English, Reading, or Spelling. Pop quizzes might also pop up from time to time. 4. What other grades will my student have? Students in Science will receive a lab grade on the days that we do an experiment, observation, or lab. Students begin the semester with a 100. Students can keep this 100 by simply completing their lab each day and following directions. If a student doesn't complete the lab and/or follow directions, he or she will receive a minus (-) on the lab and five points off of their lab grade. Students will also have various daily grades in English, Reading, and Spelling. 5. Will students have spelling contracts this year? Yes, students will have a spelling contract that requires them to complete three activities a week. Activities will be due on Friday. 6. When will Spelling and Reading tests be? These tests should be on Friday this year unless there is a holiday that week. I hope this answers many of your questions.
