Sometimes the hardest thing in the world is to be honest with yourself. It really is. That's why it's so important to have friends and loved ones. Sometimes, even when you're partially lying to yourself, they can bring the truth to light so you can deal with it. It's better to know the truth and be forced to confront it than to sit back and live a lie.
And yet, some of us live a lie everyday. Maybe not to ourselves, but to those around us, and in the process, we lose sight of who we really are. We become, instead of who we inherently could become, a eclectic mixture of the various masks we wear before people. Unfortunately, none of those masks expose all of who we are. And if a part of us comes out and breaks through the mask, it can have scary consequences for those around us who don't really know us as well as they think they do...
