If I Should Die
Inspired by the following quote in Moulin Rouge:
"If I should die
This very moment,
I wouldn't fear.
For I've never known completeness
Like being here.
Wrapped in the warmth of you,
Loving every breath...
Why live life from dream to dream
And dread the day when dreaming ends?"
~Satine, Moulin Rouge

If I should die this very moment,
Would you ever know how I felt for you?
As I lay dying,
Would you sing to me,
Sweet lullabies
Of love lost,
Love regained?
Would you cry?
Would your teardrops
Stain the satin sheets
With their melancholy,
Their regret?
Would you tell me that you love me?
How would you let it show?
Through visions of angelic realms,
And wishes that we
Would meet there once more?
And as I gasped
My very last breath,
Would you kiss me goodnight
And send me on my way
To a heavenly dreamland
Where I would frolic among the butterflies
And dance upon the stars
And patiently wait for the day
When you would sing to me once more?
