The Katen family name originated with him. As far as we know, he was the only child of Efram Saman. His children were all born in the same house in Homs. Their home no longer exists. It was a large two story home with seven bedrooms. Five bedrooms were on the second floor. The door on the second floor leads out to a marble walkway that overlooks the courtyard. The first floor had three large rooms plus two bedrooms. There was always more than one branch of the Katen family living there. Khatan was born at Homs, Syria, in January 1834.
