The Path of the Faendryl

VIII. New Ta’Faendryl

The Faendryl realized that they were the only true Elves left on the face of Elanthia.  They understood that they, alone of all the races on Elanthia, possessed the potential to achieve the god-like power once open to all of the elves.

In this knowledge, they turned their backs upon the rest of elves and built New Ta’Faendryl.  They remained secluded for many generations, continuing their study of the magical arts, especially al’Amayl’Ari, honing the Art also known as a’Sor’Saeri.

Some time after the founding of New Ta’Faendryl, the insolent human “empire” thought to move against the Faendryl.  As during the initial engagement with the Ashrim, the spell workers of the Faendryl held the full force of their magic in check, hoping that the humans would understand their true place and return to their own lands.  The Gellig Massacre, however, brought forth a righteous anger in the Faendryl people.  The Art was once again called upon and the humans were forcefully repulsed.  Had the desire to conquer been in the heart of the Faendryl the humans would have lost much, but the lesson was taught and the Faendryl returned to their study.

The humans, in fear, built a wall to protect themselves from the might of the Faendryl.  Humans attacked, were crushed, and built a wall, which they call the “Demonwall,” to defend themselves.  The Faendryl find it amusing, but allow the humans to believe that their pitiful wall protects them.  It marks the edge of their lands and so long as they do not cross it or once again move against New Ta’Faendryl the Faendryl will allow them the illusion of safety their wall provides.

The Faendryl do not consider the move against New Ta’Faendryl a war, no matter how the Turamzzyrian Empire names it.  It is known to the Faendryl as the Gellig Massacre, naming the unprovoked and dishonorable attack for what it was.  If war had been called, their capital, and any who stood in the way, would lie in destruction.  They do not know war.
