The Path of the Faendryl
Letter of Introduction
21 Eorgaen of the year 5103 Modern Era
With the release of an abridged version of the Enchiridion Valentia to the common people of Elanthia, it is important that you have a solid foundation of knowledge about our history. Its release has brought a wave of hysteria to the people of Elanthia, who still do not understand our mastery of a’Sor’Saeri. Nor do they understand our rightful place in the world or the debt they owe us for their very existence.
If you deem it necessary to travel beyond the walls of New Ta’Faendryl, as I have, you will need to understand not only the reaction of the peoples of Elanthia towards you, but, in the face of their accusations and fear, our reasons for taking the actions we took.
It should be noted that this is an extremely abbreviated text; it allows only a glimpse into our history and the reasons behind actions taken by our House through the millennia. No single document can hope for more. It is quite impossible to describe the extent of the knowledge and histories contained within our libraries, other than to remind the reader that the Faendryl have been recording the history of Elanthia, and the history and ways of the Elves and of the Faendryl, since well before the move from the forests and the founding of the Great Houses. Other documents will be released as time permits.
For more detailed explanations of some of the events described herein, I refer you to the first released History of the Faendryl Empire and to the The Logbook of Ehrit al’Yari, Mage-Captain of the FS Black Heron.
Note, also, that the one known to the a’Niall Dhu’nari as Noi’sho’rah has been recorded in our histories as Ivaryn. His family of origin is unknown.
While you may use this document as a basis for explanation, do not share it with those who are not Faendryl. You must also remember, in the course of your studies, that some Mysteries must be Kept, for, with the lesser races, the very foundation of their existence as they know it would come into question were those Mysteries released.
By My Hand,
Eredhen i’Larien Faendryl
