Today I started the overhaul of my Eagle.  Here is what I started with.

Start.JPG (384719 bytes) After the first day engine_loose.JPG (454567 bytes)  After the second day  emptyBay.JPG (483211 bytes)

The exhaust system Exhaust1.JPG (345252 bytes)    The reason for removal? The clutch stopped working

Look closely, can you see the spring under the clutch fingers? Clutch1.JPG (448889 bytes) As-Found.JPG (245640 bytes)

Here is where it came from. AsFound2.JPG (481076 bytes) I Pressure washed the Engine after removal

Now Everything is in pieces Block.JPG (379861 bytes) IMG_0176.JPG (425118 bytes) IMG_0178.JPG (396161 bytes) The head is off being reworked. The second Block has been retrieved from TN. Tear down was uneventful and all parts including the spare crank and rods are at the machine shop. Engine block came with all mounts, alternator, AC compressor and everything left after some Junkyard meatball operation to remove the head. $100.00 Great deal! Tested the alternator JUNK. maybe I can have it rebuilt for a spare!

While everything is out I am doing what I can to make things look better. Paint.JPG (418897 bytes) Plasticote has a Anodized look Paint that I am Painting things with. The can said that the paint is good to 500deg. I intend on doing the valve cover and a lot of the other visible parts while there out. Looks like the theme under hood is going to be Blue and Red.

I have opted to remove the balance shafts from the engine and have cut the oil pump balance shaft to create the stub shaft for the oil pump to run on. Here is my solution to the exposed oil passage in the middle of the shaft.Oil pump.jpg (391750 bytes) Wire feed welders, you just gotta love them.

All engine parts are back in my possession and being assembled

blockwoilsml.jpg (46398 bytes)  engine1sml.jpg (44036 bytes)  exhaust1sml.jpg (46481 bytes)  Engine and transmission back in. I ran the car for 1 week and started a trip to Illinois in it.  Made 117 Miles into the trip and spun #4 Rod bearing.. Now everything has to come back out and put a different crank and a replacement #4 rod back in the bottom end.  Life goes on.............. I destroyed a crank and 2 rods putting it back together wrong. Another lesson learned

I'm back again.  Yesterday I installed my new two gauge A pillar pod.  The top gauge is a new Autometer 30-30 boost gauge and the bottom is a Autometer volt gauge. Now I can see what I am boosting at night.
