Chirk Castle - Wales

Chirk Castle built in the late 13th century is now part of the UK National Trust system of well maintained historical buildings and grounds.  The castle is open for visitors and can be reached on foot from the Llangollen canal (plan for an up hill walk of nearly an hour).

Moor your boat at the mouth of the north end of the Chirk tunnel, proceed up the path leading towards the top of the tunnel and then turn right.  Follow signs to the castle.  Take the posted short-cut to the castle through a farmer's fields (local footpath)!
