          DISCLAIMER:  If you have additions or corrections to make, please e-mail me. I've had a hard time finding anyone else working on this particular line.  I have additional information that is not on this page if you're interested.  Due to some recent data I've seen, I'm very skeptical about whether some of this is accurate or not.
          Names in red are my direct line.

        • 1. Rev. James (Parson) KEITH, b 1696, Peterhead, Aberdeen, Scotland, d 1761(?), Bristerberg, VA. Married Mary Isham RANDOLPH (referred to as Miss Randolph of James River), on 2 Mar 1734(?). Mary, daughter of Thomas "of Tuckahoe" RANDOLPH and Judith FLEMING, b abt 1713, Mansfield, Louisa, VA, d Dec 1753, VA.

          This note was made after Mr. Green became Rector of the Parish. The foregoing entries are the only evidence of the connection of Messrs. De Butts and Holmes with the Parish. These facts were unknown to Bishop Meade, who never saw this record. This book also reveals the fact that the Rev. James Keith, of Hamilton Parish, the Grandfather of Chief justice Marshall, also officiated in this Parish, when it was without a minister. At this very Vestry an order was entered to pay the Rev. Mr. James Keith 10,544 pounds of tobacco for services rendered.

          (Note:-Not all of these voters lived in Fairfax. An elector could vote in every country in which he owned a freehold of 25 acres of improved land, or 100 acres if unimproved. Each name appears twice on the poll lists, hence the variations in spelling.)

          • 2. James KEITH, Jr., b abt 1734, d 1809, Alexandria, VA. Married 1) Elizabeth CONTEE, daughter of John CONTEE of Maryland and Margaret SNOWDEN, d Indiana??? 2) Charlotte ASHMAN? (His brother married a Charlotte ASHMORE; I wonder if this is correct.)

            NOTES:   Eldest child of Rev. James and Mary (Randolph) Keith:
            James KEITH (b. ca 1734) m. Elizabeth CONTEE; was educated in the law at Williamsburg; was admitted to practice in Frederick, VA Court in 1757, and was Clerk of the County Court for 62 years; practiced law in Alexandria, VA; was officer with the Patowmack Company for many years; d. 16 Oct 1824 [“Descendants of William Randolph of Turkey Island” says that this James KEITH m. 2nd to Charlotte ASHMAN.][obituary in 30 Oct 1824 issue of the "Intelligencer" (Lexington, VA), it is reported that James KEITH was Mayor of Alexandria when the citizens gave a public dinner (ca 1783) for General LaFayette]   Source:  Larry Keith of www.keithclan.com

                • 5. Mary Isham KEITH, b 8 Jun 1843, Richmond, VA, d 5 Mar 1913, Dallas Co., AL.   Married Rev. Emmett Reeves VAUGHAN 6 Apr 1870, Petersburg, VA. Resided in Washington Co., AL. (my great grandparents).
            • 3. Elizabeth Contee KEITH. Married Taliaferro GRIGSBY? 15 Feb 1785.
