FYI I wanted to tell you that I tested the capacitance of the last "High Power, HF Insulator" I got from you. As you know the lower the capacitance, the better. I found it to be lower than I expected. About 2.9 picafarads. This is indeed very low. I tested two fender washers with paper between them and they had ~75 pf. This is a new style of my own which, like all my stuff is super strong. 1-1/2 inch OD Delrin insulator with the power and ground connections made on the side studs. The studs have a 10-32 screw (3/16"). With this set-up you do not have to put the wire under the antenna and weaken it's support. There is over one inch of insulation between the metal parts internally. It doesn't matter how big your antenna is, this insulator will hold it. You can tighten either end as much as you want and not strip the Delrin. When tightened, no stress is put on the Delrin. All it has to hold is the antenna weight and it can't let go until you tear the whole thing in two. It should easily carry 20 pounds or more. It is water tight and air tight so nothing can get to the connections internally to corrode them. And internally there are 3 high pressure points of contact for each stud. With the connections secured under high pressure they would still work even with corrosion. And they would not be much of that since it is all aluminum and brass and a stainless steel stud in the bottom with a 1/2-20 thread, but which is not removable. All of my mounts will fit on top of the insulator in any combination you want. |
