178. Thomas⁵ Mathews (Mary (Polly)⁴ Cave, Abner³, William², Robert¹) was born about 1837. Thomas died May 1921 at 83 years of age.

He married Susan Shively in Hart Co, KY, November 10, 1858. Susan was born in KY December 26, 1836. Susan died November 4, 1893 in Hart Co, KY, at 56 years of age.

Thomas Mathews and Susan Shively had the following family:

464 i. John⁶ Mathews was born November 11, 1859.

465 ii. Laura Ann Mathews was born June 5, 1861.

466 iii. Sarah A. Mathews was born about 1863.

467 iv. Mary A. Mathews was born about 1865.

468 v. Martha E. Mathews was born about 1867.

469 vi. Ophelia Mathews was born about 1869. She married William R. Wilson.

470 vii. Joseph E. Mathews was born about 1871.

471 viii. William H. Mathews was born about 1873.
