A *new* FLASH! Freckles is now an ASFA FCh! He picked up the last 30 points he needed by going 2nd in a full stake of 13 at the MCKC trial in TN on Feb 22!
Freckles is my long awaited puppy from Karen Lee. I've literally been trying to get a puppy from her for years, and I finally managed it! Freckles is the full baby brother of Karen's Angus (Ch. Surrey Hill's Aberdeen) - who finished his Ch. at 10 1/2 months. At the TAHC Fun Match 6/30/96, because of a mix-up in judging order (they TOLD me Whippets would be LAST!) Freckles missed his class, but the judge was nice enough to let him go in the ring after Best Whippet - just for the experience. It was *extremely* hot and poor Freckles would have preferred to be anywhere else - but he held up like a trooper and showed like a little pro - probably because he was too hot to object to anything! The judge was very complimentary about him. I did get a chance to practice him on the lure, and after some coaxing he started to show some interest - more than I expected on such a hot day, but it was encouraging. 3/19/97 - Freckles pre-qualified for ASFA on 2/16/97 - the *first* time he ever ran with another dog! Go Freckles! It's Oct 7, 1996 and Freckles had a *great* day at the shows! This was his first weekend of shows - he hasn't even been to a fun match, and on Saturday he was all agog and wouldn't settle down. But on Sunday, at the Griffin Kennel Club show he did great - got First in his class, Winners Dog *and* Best of Opposite Sex - for *2* points and at the age of only 7 months and 2 days. Thanks Tom for showing him so well, and thanks Karen for letting me have him! At the MAWA Specialty on Friday, Oct. 11, 1996 Freckles got 4th in a Puppy class of 6. (see Bandit's page for how HE did!) At the AWC National Specialty on April 15, 1997 Freckles WON the 12 -14 month Futurity class! And he took *2nd* in a BIG American Bred class! Thanks for showing him Karen. At the Macon shows 8/2-3/97 Freckie picked up 2 more pts - got WD and BOW. 8/22/97 - Freckles picked up another point - got WD and BOW again! 9/13/97 - Freckles passed the ATTS Temperament Test and is now entitled to have TT added to his name 9/22/97 - at the ASFA trials in TN this past weekend poor Freckles blew a pad in a runoff for 3-4-NBQ, so he only got NBQ. Better luck next time! (I hope) 12/6-7/97 - Freckles ran great, got 2nd both days. He's now exactly 1/2 way to his ASFA FCh - he still needs one 1st and 50 pts. 2/15/98 - at the SEGC ASFA lure trial Freckles won a runoff for 1st place! He now has 1 First, 2 Seconds and 72 points towards his FCh. 2/22/98 - At the MCKC trial in TN Freckles picked up the last 30 points he needed for his ASFA FCh by going 2nd in a full stake of 13 3/22/98 - at the BGCC ASFA trial Freckels got FIRST place in a full stake. That gives him his first 1st place and 40 points towards his LCM! 4/11/98 - at the Atlanta KC show Freckles got 2nd in Open and Reserve to a 5 pt major 11/14/98 - Freckles has had a rough couple of weeks. His kennel mates ganged up on him and did quite a bit of superficial skin damage - the worst of it on his SHOW side, naturally! He just got his stiches out - but there is still going to be a few scars. He's feeling MUCH better though and should be just fine. |
