From your cottage in Chilmark, you can bike over the whole island. Rentals are available and there are bikepaths over much of the island. Be sure to be "in shape". |

Very near the center of Chilmark is a pasture and small
pond. This is the view of it I first saw! I was surprised there was a
place large enough to have a farm with cows and sheep and that they
were just free to graze all over the many acres. It was a great find.

Great view of the stone walls built hundreds of years ago.
As the land was cleared for pasture or to build on, the walls
were built from the rocks uncovered in the ground at the site.
