KITTIES' PAGE

Welcome to the WORLD of Kitties!!
Dear Lord, I thank
you for the kitten's soft fur,
I thank you for the cool, green grass in which my feet can stir.
I thank you for many sunny days, and gentle cooling showers
that wash the windowpanes and quench the thirsty flowers.
I thank you for the rose bush that blooms beside the trees
and for the trusting little birds that nest within the leaves.
I thank you for the daisy field and for the flowers of May
and for the joyous lttle brook that hurries on its way.
I thank you Lord for all the things that make this life so fine
The blue sky, white clouds, and kitties small that help me to
remember it truly is a gift devine!

Her name was "MeowMeow"
She was a
very loving, sophisticated kitty.
She was born in the wild and she became mine at age 6 months,
along with a yellow/white male kitty. And that became his name, KITTY.
They loved climbing the trees in our yard,
They would run inside if it rained or if they wanted to snuggle.
She had 4 babies when she was about a year old.
They were
wonderful, they all came running to me each afternoon
when I called out "Where is everybody?" as I came in the door from work.
They scampered from every direction and followed me around in a row.
At this
point we had the mama, the papa and 4 babies!
Wow! The Vet bill would be tremendous!
We had so many phone calls we gave 3 of the babies to others.
A lady called a few months later and wanted the papa kitty.
She was looking for a grown male kitty.
When we met,
she told us of loosing her 5 year old kitty to a disease
called Feline Leukemia. Therefore, she would like to have KITTY tested
before keeping him as she did not want to go through that again.
I had never heard of this disease, so I wasn't concerned because
KITTY ate well, his immunizations were up to date,
he looked so healthy and acted healthy,
but he was not, he had Feline Leukemia.
We were
advised by the Vet to have him put to sleep because he was
an outdoor cat and he would pass this disease on to other cats.
This is a highly contagious disease among cats.
At this
point we had MeowMeow and Callie tested.
They both tested positive for this horrible disease!
MeowMeow had passed it on to her baby!
As they both
were indoor cats by now, the Vet advised us we would not
have to destroy them, but when they started showing signs of the disease,
we could give them medicine until they were too sick to survive
or have them put to sleep.
I cried and cried! They were my babies! This was a dreadful thing!
MeowMeow lived to be 8 years old.
Callie, lived only 1 year.
I decided on the medication route and took care of them until they died.
This was one of the saddest experiences I have ever had with animals!
I don't like
writing sad stories, but I want you to be more informed
than I was!
There is much more information now than there was then, so do your research!
Please get your kitties tested for all the cat diseases.
