The truth is, all nail salons do not offer high quality nail service. Maybe you re a person that counts your pennies so you look for the lowest prices. However, when choosing a nail salon you should consider the following criteria rather than price alone. Are all the nail techs licensed? Are the implements sanitized between every client (including drill bits, files and buffers)? Is the facility neat and clean? Are cuticles pushed back with a sanitized implement or just a tech's thumbnail? Is a clean towel or mat used between each client and the table cleaned with alcohol? Does the tech wash with anti-bacterial soap between each client? Are pedicure thrones cleaned and sanitized between every client according to state guidelines?

While discount salons offer fast service and lowest prices, you can t be certain that all the techs are licensed. Many health conscious clients follow the recommendations of their doctor, podiatrist, or dermatologist and choose only nail salons that offer safe nail care. Many people consider sanitation and an unhurried service a more enjoyable nail salon experience because of the relaxation and peace of mind.

The quality services offered by many nail salons will not be found in discount salons. For example, quality healing products, no drills to cause 'rings of fire' (burned nail beds), implements washed and sanitized for each client, a clean, relaxing environment, and techs who get continuing education each year.

Many women want their nails to look beautiful because they are working with the public. Some use their hands to demonstrate products so they want nails that don t look like they just came off an assembly line. They want a service that does not hurt and nails that don t look like Chiclets gum. Many clients have become discouraged by their experience at discount salons because they have had nails ripped from the nail bed, caught fungus or bacterial infections, suffered from rings of fire drill damage or had bleeding feet from a credo blade.

There are steps to promote healthy nail growth. Brittle nails can be treated by applying therapeutic oil and lotion moisturizers, professional Fluoride treatments and a nail strengthener on a regular basis and by taking oral Biotin capsule supplements. If you have brittle nails you should begin a six-week recovery program under the regular care of a professional licensed Manicurist and Onyxologist. Follow the customized home care recovery advice in order to reduce the symptoms of brittle nails.

People that have diabetes, arthritis or are elderly need a nail salon that offers clean, safe, relaxing, unhurried nail care. There are many lower quality substandard salons that are hurting clients and using substandard sanitation practices. For public safety it is recommended that you make cleanliness and sanitation your number one priority rather than low prices and speed of service when choosing a nail salon. And remember, it s always proper salon etiquette to tip for good
service.

Read Jeanne's Latest Monthly Article In Chapel Hill News & Views.

Nails Your Way
Jeanne Grace Curtis
5900 Orchard Road
Douglasville GA 30135-4726

Look for the Hand Sign pointing at the gate!
(All the way at the end of Orchard Road)

Click on Map for Printable Copy.

By Appointment Only

Sun-Mon

Closed

Tues-Sat

11am-7pm

770-949-3113

 HOME | About NYW | ARTICLES | SERVICES & PRICES | MAP
