Few women have not bought nail polish at some point. Many women are removing their acrylic nail enhancements and returning to natural nail care, making nail polish durability a more important factor. As this trend continues to grow, high quality nail salons are meeting client s needs by providing polish products that are specifically formulated for safe, healthy, long wear on natural nails as well as on nail enhancements.

Nail polish reacts differently on every woman. The composition of your nails (dry, oily, hard, soft, prone to peel, etc.) and how you use your hands affects the wear you get from nail polish. What lasts forever on your friend may immediately chip off your nails.

Nail polish should be thin enough to spread evenly on the nails without a lot of drag but be thick enough to cover smoothly and evenly with two coats. Polish should dry quickly, stick to the nails and give a shiny look. Most importantly it should stay on until it s taken off (approximately five to seven days).

It s best to use a series of three products: a base coat, color, and topcoat in order to improve both the adhesion and wear. To prevent nails from chipping apply a strengthening topcoat the day after a new manicure and continue to apply another thin coat (of top coat) every other day until your next manicure.

When choosing, consider a color that will complement your complexion in order to give you the most attractive effect. Women with fair skin should stick to shades with violet-red, burgundy or cool pink. Red is a classic color suitable for most any occasion. Clear polish is no-nonsense and it says, grooming is important to me . Pale pink colors dry quickly, are very ladylike and they look best on short nails. Deep raspberry is considered conservative. Mauve is one of the most requested colors because of its versatility; it goes well with dressy or sporty outfits of any color or style.

You don t have to throw away thickened bottles of polish. The life of thickened nail polish can be extended and brought back to a usable state. Simply buy a bottle of polish thinner and add a few drops, shake well; add more polish thinner if needed. Don t thin them with nail polish remover; it s the wrong kind of solvent and it will spoil the gloss shine.

Every time you use your nail polish, clean the threads of the bottle and the cap with a cotton swab dampened in nail polish remover. The bottle will open easily and close tightly, letting in no air, and the polish will not thicken as quickly.

A professional or self-manicure with an exquisite new polish color, whether on enhancements or natural nails, lend elegance to everyday work-wear as well as to special occasion outfits for weddings, holiday parties, proms, graduations, reunions or church functions.

Read Jeanne's Latest Monthly Article In Chapel Hill News & Views.

Nails Your Way
Jeanne Grace Curtis
5900 Orchard Road
Douglasville GA 30135-4726

Look for the Hand Sign pointing at the gate!
(All the way at the end of Orchard Road)

Click on Map for Printable Copy.

By Appointment Only

Sun-Mon

Closed

Tues-Sat

11am-7pm

770-949-3113

 HOME | About NYW | ARTICLES | SERVICES & PRICES | MAP
