Privacy during a pedicure service means no one else knows about the foot care you receive, it s between you and your pedicurist. Wise men realize that pedicures relieve workplace stress, repair dry cracked heels, reduce calluses, moisturize dry cuticles, cure athlete s foot and relieve painful ingrown toenails. Like women, many wise men are making foot care a priority by getting monthly pedicures.

A common foot problem is excess moisture of the feet, called bromhidrosis a scientific term for smelly feet. This happens because the warmth and sweat of the feet provide conditions for bacteria to grow causing odor and athlete s foot fungus. Good foot hygiene through monthly private pedicures will help solve this problem by reducing perspiration.

Maybe you suffer from extra-dry feet during the winter months. The outer layer of skin needs to consist of approximately 30% water to stay moist and pliable. When winter arrives, the percentage tends to drop. If the moisture level drops as low as 10%, the skin begins to crack and scale, feeling uncomfortably rough and flaky.

Treatment for extra-dry winter skin is to apply topical creams or lotions that protect the skin and prevent it from losing additional moisture. Lotions or creams containing urea, petrolatum, mineral oil, glycerin or lanolin often work best. The lotion or cream should be applied at least once a day, preferably while the skin is still somewhat moist after a bath or shower.

Calluses are also a common foot problem for many people. Calluses are caused by repeated friction and pressure from skin rubbing against bony areas or against irregularity inside a shoe. A callus is the body s way of protecting that area of skin. Calluses tend to form around the edges of the heels, joints of the big toes, and on the small toes. Calluses can also develop on the balls of the feet. However, not all callusing is bad. Some callus or thickening skin around the heels is normal and serves to protect the living tissue. People with heavily callused feet should use an herbal softening cream or liquid at night before bed and a foot file in the shower or bath everyday. Home foot care along with regular monthly pedicures can help keep calluses, dry heels, athlete s foot and ingrown toenails under control.

There are several specialty pedicures available in many salons, such as the extra-moisturizing warm-paraffin pedicure, the super relaxing hot-stone massage pedicure, the skin renewing aromatherapy oil pedicure, and the circulation boosting reflexology massage pedicure. Any of these pedicures will address a wise man's foot problems professionally and discretely. Make a wise decision today to ask your pedicurist for an extra pampering, skin renewing, stress relieving specialty pedicure. Better yet you can give a holiday pedicure gift certificate to a son, daughter, brother, sister, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, father, mother, grandfather, or grandmother.

Read Jeanne's Latest Monthly Article In Chapel Hill News & Views.

Nails Your Way
Jeanne Grace Curtis
5900 Orchard Road
Douglasville GA 30135-4726

Look for the Hand Sign pointing at the gate!
(All the way at the end of Orchard Road)

Click on Map for Printable Copy.

By Appointment Only

Sun-Mon

Closed

Tues-Sat

11am-7pm

770-949-3113

 HOME | About NYW | ARTICLES | SERVICES & PRICES | MAP
