Hollywierd Observations

Watched "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise last night...

Good movie...I now rename it, though...

"Dancing With Fujis"

Kind of like "Dances With Wovles", but different...

I've got Hollywood's number...no creativity since 1922... lather, rinse, repeat ... just like hair shampoo

Terminator 1,2,3

Batman 1,2,3,4

Superman 1,2,3,4

ROCKY 1,2,3,4,5 (5 Rocky movies....arrrrrrgh)

Star Wars 1,2,3,4,5,6

Star Trek 1,2,3,4,5,6,7....... (not that I mind the Star Trek sequels...can't get enough of Mr. Spock...)(me too...Htos1)

Then there are the sequels that are hidden...

Like... "Dances With Wovles", and now "Dances With Fujis"

Kind of like:

Terminator 1,2,3, where men fight machines...

and...

Matrix 1,2,3, where men fight...uh...machines

I won't ruin the movie for you ("Dances With Fujis", that is) if you haven't seen it... its a good flick and worth a pass by the CPU & DVD...might even watch it again...

Just odd how Hollywood seems to reoccur again and again, each time with the proverbial "gimmee" hand turn palm outword, expecting the public to cough up more cash for the same old hash...

Gotta make good on that billion-dollar movie set, I guess...

Oh, now we call it "The Hulk"...

Where's my second Spiderman movie, guys???????

Oh, too busy re-hashing the old Dracula tale...

Did anyone notice there were TWO movies about Christopher Columbus that BOTH came out in 1992???

Or, did you notice they have ALREADY re-made DUNE...

I think they need to do a "Lone Ranger" movie... NOT a comedy... TONTO, in all his politically incorrect stature...they did and redid and redid Zorro...what the hell???

How about "The Green Hornet?"...I'll sit thru a Jackie Chan movie if they do that... maybe George Clooney could be The Green Hornet for us, too??...or maybe Val Kilmer??... or...hmmmm...Michael Keaton???... (they were stretching our patience by making Michael Keaton into Batman...trying to re-do the Comic-relief Batman of the 1960's...no humor, though...just a comedian who kicked people's ass... much more realistic to real life... "this is a hard room...")

How many more "Three Muskateer" movies will America pay for?

and they re-did The Alamo... (without John Wayne...)

We can't get enough of Dirty Harry Callahan...we ALL want to be him

And that lone stranger, high plains drifter, hang 'em high, pale rider dude...a psuedo hero with no name, blazing guns, a poncho, and a hand-twisted cigar... more, more, more, please...

We've went to Mars I dodn't know how many times... in the 50's we had H.G. Wells War of the World's... in the 90's we had Arnold Swarzenegger and Total Recall, not to mention "The Red Planet" and various other Martian Chronicles...

How many times can a human being be lured to chomp popcorn while watching outlaws rob a train? or, murder someone on the Orient Express?... we had Gene Wilder and Richard Prior do "The Silver Streak two or three decades ago... we had Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster do "Tough Guys" shortly after, then Steven Segal did a ditto-ditto to his "Ender Siege character, and transformed those navy ship sets to a moving train set... Hollywood is a genius at fooling mother nature and the American public

How about "Dracula - Men In Tights?"

Robinhood has been a complete hash hash hash hash over the years

and how many more times do I go out during intermission and grab a movie-size box of Raisanets while watching (fill in the blank)

and here's a movie-set match from hell...must be Hollywood NEVER takes down those sets...

I don't know how many times I've seen similar sets in sitcoms on TV... like, the inside of Archie Bunker's house... wasn't that about the same as the "Married With Children" set..??... entrance to screen right...stairs to unknown bedrooms upstairs and to the center...kitchen to the left... hmmmm... Bill Cosby used that set, too...

and...how about this one... remember the original episode of Star Trek where Captain Kirk gets transported to the same planet with the GORN??...that green-faced grunter that got blown to bits with sulphur, coal and salt?

in that set, the duo fight it out over a movie set that is a cliff of rocks that to screen left is low to the ground, and to screen right, drops off... straight, shale-like rocks......saw that set in a "Colt Seaver's Fallguy episode one time...and I've seen it in other places...

remember the seens in the Star Wars movie where young Anakin is racing his wat-cha-ma-callit, and he enters into that cavern system where he has to bank up and fly sideways??...ahhh...Lara Croft, Tomb Raider used that set, too...when she was being pulled out of danger by the sled dogs...

remember the set where Princess Amadala and a couple others were walking down a huge set of stairs...a very regal set indeed...we all thought it looked new and exciting didn't we?...except those of us who had seen the 1960's movie "Anzio" where the lead character comes in the front doors of the mansion, and walks UP the exact same stairs...

not sure what you call these occurances, but I have seen so many movies, I have noticed hundreds of set crossovers...

how many more movie sets are either in downtown New York, or downtown Los Angeles?...how many more Beverly Hills shots can we get on film before America gets pitched in the dumpster for good??...

"Set Sniglets..." ...perhaps I will even make up my own word for what I have observed... a "Set Sniglet" would be the experience a movie goer, or TV watcher finds themselves caught up in when they suddenly are swept away by the "Deja Vu" of "hey, I saw this set in another movie"... or..."Hey, isn't "The Last Samurai" remarkble identical to "Dances With Wolves" ????? (ie the name "Dances With Fujis")

I am at the least, rather observant....

Been watchin' the governemnt the same way...just another movie set... George Washington 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,
16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,
31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44..... sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel...
