Co-op Programmer/Analyst

General Summary

  • Program and maintain mission-critical Windows, database, and web-based applications in a leading edge, production environment for the nuclear electric power generating industry. Perform programming, design, and analysis tasks including the development of new software, maintenance of existing applications and troubleshooting problems with data, third party software and client operating systems. 

Essential Duties

  • Develop new software and maintain existing software using the following toolset and environment:

    • MS Visual Studio Team System

    • MS Framework 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0
    • MS Visual Studio Interdev 6.0
    • MS Visual Basic.NET
    • MS Visual Basic 6.0
    • Microsoft Access 2003
    • MS Office XP Developer
    • Microsoft ASP (Active Server Pages)
    • Microsoft ASP.NET
    • Microsoft .NET Framework SDK
    • MS Visual SourceSafe
    • MS SQL Server 2005 Database Manager
    • MS SQL Server Enterprise Manager
    • MS SQL Server Management Studio
    • MS Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0

  • Develop Windows client and web-based software using .NET 2.0 Framework, Visual Studio Team Systems, and Team Foundation Server
  • Enhance and maintain existing Active Server Pages applications that use DHTML and XML on our intranet and external web site.
  • Program SQL data retrieval language from Microsoft SQL Server 2003 databases on the local area network
  • Develop Web software using IIS (Microsoft’s Internet Information Server)
  • Perform batch programming on plant information center (PIC) data gathering and processing software, program in macro languages (VBA)
  • Troubleshoot application code and data-related problems with production applications received from the IT Help Desk
  • Perform systems analysis and user interface software screen design
  • Process and filter descriptions of events at plants, includes data entry and collating of information received on plants
  • Perform programming and analysis tasks on IT work requests as assigned by project leaders
  • Generate graphics, charts, displays with data received on nuclear plant operations
  • Develop software to process data and interface with Microsoft Excel to generate trend graphs and other graphic outputs
