King James Translation: “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: and they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.”
Interlinear Translation: “Behold the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land- not a famine for bread, and not a thirst for water, but rather to hear the words of Jehovah. and they will stagger from sea to sea, and from north even to the east; they will roam about to seek the word of Jehovah and they will not find it.
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “BEHOLD = lo, see, as expressing surprise. THE DAYS COME = attain, bring forth, come to pass, enter in, resort. SAITH THE LORD GOD = an oracle, to whisper, i.e. by implication to utter as an oracle. THAT I WILL SEND A FAMINE = more or less extensive hunger, dearth, famished, suffer to hunger. IN THE LAND = the earth meaning to be firm, country, wilderness, world. NOT A FAMINE OF BREAD = food, grain for making bread, eating, food, fruit, loaf, meat, victuals. NOR A THIRST = thirsty, to thirst, suffer thirst. FOR WATER = figuratively juice, by euphemism urine, semen, wasting. BUT OF HEARING = to hear intelligently often with implication of attention, obedience, causative to tell, consent, consider, be content, declare, discern, give ear, make to hear, make a noise, be obedient, obey, perceive, publish, regard, understand. THE WORD OF THE LORD = a matter as spoken of, a cause, advice, case, chronicles, commandment, communication, provision, promise, purpose, question, reason, report, request, tidings. AND SHALL NOT FIND IT = not to come forth to, i.e. not appear or exist, not to attain, not find or acquire, not to occur, meet or be present, not delivered, not take hold on.
