King James Translation: “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.”
Interlinear Translation: “And when he drew near already to the descent of the mount of Olives began all the multitude of the disciples, rejoicing, to praise God with a voice loud for all which the had seen the works of power, saying, Blessed the coming king in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “AND WHEN HE WAS COME NIGH = to make near, i.e. approach, be at hand, come near, be nigh. EVEN NOW AT THE DESCENT = a declivity. OF THE MOUNT OF OLIVES = a an olive the fruit or the tree mountain as if lifting itself above the plain. THE WHOLE MULTITUDE = a fullness, i.e. a large number, throng populace, bundle, company. BEGAN = to commence in the order of time, rehearse from the beginning. TO REJOICE = to be cheerful, i.e. calmly happy or well off, be well, be glad, God speed, greeting, hail, joyfully. AND PRAISE GOD = a story. WITH A LOUD = greatest, nigh, large, mighty, strong. VOICE = the idea of disclosure, a tone, an address for any purpose, saying or language, noise, sound. FOR ALL THE MIGHTY WORKS = force, special miraculous power, ability, abundance, meaning, strength.
THAT THEY HAD SEEN = be aware, behold, consider, have knowledge, to know, perceive, understand. SAYING BLESSED BE THE KING = said good, to speak well of, to bless, thank or invoke a benediction upon, prosper, praise. THAT COMETH = accompany, appear, bring, enter, resort. IN THE NAME OF THE LORD = authority, character, called. PEACE = to join, prosperity, quietness, rest, set at one again. IN HEAVEN = the idea of elevation, the sky, as the abode of God, by implication happiness, power, eternity, air. AND GLORY = glory as very apparent, dignity, honour, praise, worship. IN THE HIGHEST = most high.
