King James Translation: “And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Interlinear Translation: “And he shall go forth before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn hearts of fathers to children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared”

Strong’s Concordance Translation: “AND HE SHALL GO BEFORE HIM = to go onward, proceed in place or time, go before, farther forward, outgo, pass on. IN THE SPIRIT = a current of air, i.e. blast or breeze, by implication vital principle, mental disposition. AND POWER = force, ability, abundance, meaning, might, strength, might wonderful work. OF ELIAS = God of Jehovah TO TURN = to revert, come and come again, convert, turn about again. THE HEARTS = figuratively the thoughts, feelings mind, by analogy the middle. OF THE FATHERS = parent. TO THE CHILDREN = a child as produced, child, daughter, son. AND THE DISOBEDIENT= unpersuadable, contumacious. TO THE WISDOM = mental activity or action, intellectual or moral insight, prudence. OF THE JUST = equitable in character or act, by implication the innocent, holy, meet, righteous. TO MAKE READY = to prepare, provide. A PEOPLE PREPARED FOR THE LORD = to prepare thoroughly properly by external equipment, construct, create, build, make, ordain.
