King James Translation: “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
Interlinear Translation: “He has declared to you, man, what is good, and what Jehovah is seeking from you except to do justice, and to love grace, and to be humble to walk with your God?”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: HE HATH SHEWED THEE, O MAN = front, i.e. stand boldly out opposite by implication causative to manifest, figuratively to announce always by word of mouth to one present, specially to expose, predict, explain praise, bewray, certainly, certify, declare denounce, expound fully, messenger, plainly, profess, rehearse, report shew forth, speak, tell, utter. WHAT IS GOOD = beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, be in favour, fine, glad, graciously, joyful, kindly, kindness, loving, merry, pleasant, pleasure, precious, prosperity, ready, sweet, wealth, welfare, well favoured. AND WHAT DOTH THE LORD REQUIRE OF THEE = to tread or frequent usually to follow for pursuit or search, by implication to seek or ask, specially to worship, care for, diligently, inquire, make inquisition, necromancer, question, search, seek out. BUT TO DO JUSTLY = a verdict, a sentence or formal decree, divine law, right, privilege, custom, determination, discretion, form, fashion, to be judged, judgment, manner of law, measure, order, ordinance, right, worthily. AND TO LOVE MERCY = kindness, piety, beauty, favour, good deed, merciful, pity. AND TO WALK = carry, bear, bring, flow, grow, lead forth, march, prosper, cause to run, spread, take away, vanish, be weak. HUMBLY WITH THY GOD = humiliate, lowly, be humble.
