“The Doctrine Of Propitiation” Lesson Text: Romans 3:25: Series: “Life Changing Doctrines Of The Bible”

 

King James Translation: “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

Interlinear Translation: “whom set forth God a mercy seat through faith in his blood, for a shewing forth of his righteousness, in respect of the passing by that had before taken place sins.”

Strong’s Concordance Translation: “WHOM GOD HATH = who, which, what, than, that one. SET FORTH = place in front of, to place before, i.e. for oneself to exhibit, to oneself to propose or determine, purpose. TO BE A PROPITIATION = an expiatory place or thing, i.e. concretely an atoning victim, to conciliate, atonement, to be propitious, to reconcile. THROUGH = denoting the channel of an act, after, always, among, at, by, for, cause. FAITH = persuasion, credence, conviction, truthfulness of God, reliance upon Christ, TO DECLARE = indication, evident token, proof. HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS = equity of character or action, justification, innocent, just, meet. FOR THE REMISSION = praetermission, toleration, to let by, to send, relax, hang down. OF SINS = to miss the mark and so not share in the prize, to err, offend, trespass. THAT ARE PAST = to be already, i.e. previously transpired, be past. THROUGH = fixed position in place, time or state, instrumentality, a relation of rest, about, after, against, altogether, among, between, mightily, outwardly. THE FORBEARANCE OF GOD = self-restraint, tolerance.
