King James Version: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
Interlinear Translation: “But if in the light we should walk, as he is in the light, fellowship we have one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ Son his cleanses us from every sin.’
Strong’s Concordance Translation: BUT IF = a conditional particle, in case that, providing, before, except, and if, wither so ever, though, when, whether. WE = only used when emphatic, us, ourselves. WALK = through path, to tread all around, walk at large especially as proof of ability, figuratively to live, deport oneself, follow as a companion or votary, go, be occupied with, walkabout. IN THE LIGHT = to shine or make manifest especially by rays, luminousness in the widest applications, fire. AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT = are, be, consisteth, dure for a while, have, make. WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP = partnership, i.e. participation or social intercourse or pecuniary benefaction, to communicate, communion, distribution. ONE WITH ANOTHER = each other, each other, mutual, the other, them, yourselves, together. AND THE BLOOD = the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, by implication bloodshed, kindred. CLEANSETH = to cleanse, make clean, purge, purify. US = our, we. FROM ALL SIN = offence, sinful, to miss the mark and so not to share in the prize, to err especially morally to sin, for your faults, offend, trespass.
