King James Translation: “The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.”
Interlinear Translation: “The lust of the lazy man kills him, for have refused his hands to work. All the day long he lusts with lust, but the righteous gives and not withholds.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “THE DESIRE = a longing, by implication a delight, satisfaction, objectively a charm, dainty, lusting, pleasant. OF THE SLOTHFUL = indolent, sluggard, to lean idly, slack, idleness. KILLETH HIM = to die, to kill, put to death. FOR HIS HANDS = the open hand indicating power, means, direction. REFUSE = unwilling, refractory, to spurn, disdain, loathe, reject, reprobate person, vile person. TO LABOUR = to do or make, accomplish, advance, bring forth, commit, deal with, fashion, finish, furnish, maintain. HE COVETETH = to wish for, greatly desire, be desirous, long after, lust after. GREEDILY ALL THE DAY LONG = a longing, by implication a delight, satisfaction, objectively a charm. BUT THE RIGHTEOUS = just, lawful, to be or make right in a moral or forensic sense, cleansed. GIVETH = put, make, add, apply, appoint, ascribe, assign, bestow, bring forth, direct, distribute, grant, perform, render. AND SPARETH NOT = not to restrain or refrain, by implication to refuse, preserve, forbear, hinder, hold back, keep back, punish, refrain, reserve, withhold.
