About Karen
Gossett-- Yep, that's me hiking the woods. I actually look rather athletic. (Looks can be deceiving...) I do love to take walks around town, but only rarely get the opportunity to hike in the woods, which is heaven. I've been thinking about learning to knit for quite a while now, especially since now it's such a popular past time. Sometimes it's fun to take off on a path of your own, but other times it's nice to participate in what the crowd is doing. There's a warm comradery in it. After practicing for awhile, I'm going to try my hand at a pattern I found for a winter scarf at Knit Sisters. One half of the Knit Sisters, Ellen Bales, (the other half, of course, is Sarah) created the pattern for this Wildflowers Scarf...
And I think it will look lovely done in this Red Heart Super Saver I got at Hobby Lobby for $2.17 a skein. Quite a bargain, and the colors really do remind me of wildflowers. I hope mine turns out as nice as Ellen's.
I tried knitting when I was in my teens or early twenties, but unfortunately didn't give it much of a try. Hopefully, this time it will stick, or I will, to it. I'll let you know later how I do. Hmmm, and now something about me....
well, I graduated from the University of Louisville with
an English degree in 1980 clamouring out into the world
without a clue of what I was going to do with it. Anyway, not a day goes by I'm not grateful for the experience and happy to have the degree. Not the least of an English degree's benefits is
my lifetime membership in Garrison
Keillor's National Association of English Majors. I worked as secretary and/or office Several years ago, I worked for two
years as a free-lance writer for a woman's I covered the Kentucky Derby, nightclub
happenings, the University of Louisville scientific
research, author Sena Jeter Naslund's unveiling of her
novel, "Ahab's Wife", and other wonderful events and activities. Working for the magazine was a great
time in my life where I benefited from and I hope you enjoy this issue of WebPearls. Be sure to drop by again soon! |
