King (possibly
Solomon or Zachariah) CHANDLER was born ca. 1798 in South Carolina. He was named as administrator of his father's will
in Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina in 1820.
King's father
William H. CHANDLER filed his will on September 3, 1820 in Greenville County,
S.C. William died before November 1, 1820 when his will was proven. William's wife's name was Frances.
William's will indicates the following children:

5. Josiah CHANDLER; born 17 Jan
1808; married Elizabeth Brownen; died 20 Oct 1881 in

The research

includes land transactions from Newberry and Greenville Counties S.C. which
prove that William's name was William Hampton Chandler. Their research
continues to determine his parents.
King Chandler
married Elizabeth (probably Smith) ca. 1818 probably in Greenville County, South Carolina. Elizabeth was born ca. 1800 in South Carolina. They lived in Greenville County, South Carolina in 1820 and 1830. They moved to Georgia about 1838 where they lived in Carrol County in 1840 and Cass County in 1850. The Cass County 1850 census shows Mary Smith age 81 (c.1769) living
with them. Nearby was a Simon Smith who was close in age to Elizabeth. King moved to Blount County, Al between 1855 and
1860. He lived in a portion of the county which is now Cullman County in 1860 and 1870. In 1860 the same Simon Smith lived
next door to King and Elizabeth. King Chandler died after 1870 in Blount County. King and Elizabeth are possibly buried in what is
known as the Chandler
Cemetery in Cullman County. This cemetery is known by family members and has no
marked graves. Family tradition holds that John Shadrack
Chandler (who was known as Shade) is buried in this cemetery

Margaret Green, spinster daughter of Jeptha and Nancy
Green states that her maiden name was Chandler.
2. The second son of Jeptha
and Nancy Green was named Willian King Chandler.
3. An 1857 deed in Bartow
County, Ga. (Book V, page 721)
records that RN Kerr bought land that adjoined King Chandler's lands. This land
is north of the old Jeptha Green homestead, much of
which was still in the Green family in 1987.
4. A deed (Book GG, page 82,
records a daughter of Jeptha and Nancy E. Green
selling part of their lands to her brothers and sisters. The land is said in
that deed to be bordered on the east and south by the Kerr land and on the
north by the "the dower land of Nancy
E. Green".
