Lower Dogwood (1996)

The controversial "leaner-in-the-mud" game is just one of many great contests that have graced the Dogwood Court. Directly behind the Obringer National Clubhouse, Dogwood is also blessed with nearby tunes. Past contestants have been known to warm up for their upcoming match with a quick game of ping-pong, available in the lower level of the Clubhouse just off of Dogwood.

In addition to the signature dogwood trees for which the course is named, it also features a gently sloping terrain. If the weather turns warm on tournament day, Dogwood can present additional challenges to all but the most conditioned players, requiring play from both sun and shade. And unless a player comes well prepared or possesses a reliable beer caddy, a long walk to the coolers to replenish a beer (coolers usually located near Stadium Court or on the Magnolia Grill Deck) can test a player's conditioning as well.

Dogwood offers ample spectator shade and a pine tree bench, and remains a popular spot for spectators wanting to get up-close to the action while avoiding the crowds common at Stadium. Dogwood was also the site of the 1997 Championship match.

Upper Dogwood (2001)

Its idyllic siting amongst the dogwoods belying its fierce nature, Upper Dogwood seems destined to drive many a contestant to the succor of a frosty malt beverage. Fortunately for those tormented tossers of the washer, UD is adjacent to the O.N. clubhouse and the Player Refreshment Area, making sweet relief mere steps away. Despite its friendly locale, the wounds from the 2001 Doubles Championship are sure to long remain painful for runners-up Jul & Rob, while Champions Bull and Hutch are sure to think back with fondness each time the opening of a cold one brings back a flood of sweet memories of their finest hour.
