Stadium Court

When the weather gets hot, Garden Court is no place for the poorly conditioned contestant. Despite its idyllic and serene appearance, including the flattest terrain of any of the four courses, Garden is a veritable wolf in sheep's clothing waiting to ensnare the unwary player. Just ask Dave N and Gail Scoggin, participants in the longest pre-semifinal match in Tournament history. A water/air conditioning break for these two led to controversy in the 1997 Tournament.

Heckling also reaches its peak on Garden. It was here that the retort "Tell him we've got a lot of money - just fix it" inspired a great comeback for the Dave O squad in 1996. Mom and Dave O teamed to win the Doubles Championship in 1997 on Garden. With close in bench seating at either end of the court, Garden remains the ultimate locale for spectators who want to heckle the players, as well as for those who just want to see these fine athletes in action up close. Those willing to eat green onions straight out of the ground also appreciate Garden for its healthy and tasty offerings.

Garden Court is the perferred locale for Doubles matches.  It allows for shade breaks between throws for the contestants, and a quick snack to rejuvenate a tired player in a tough match. A split of opinion exists over the origin of the washer unearthed in spring tilling in 1999. Some say it was simply the result of an errant throw in the 1998 Masters. Others claim that the fertile earth was itself inspired by the tremendous matches contested on Garden over the years, and sprung the Washer to life as an offer of thanks for the opportunity to spectate all these years. Whatever the truth, the incident has only added to the legend that is Garden Court.
