Lucas was found on the
side of the road during an ice storm in December 1998 by a young lady and
her mom. Obviously abused and neglected, he had an open wound on his neck
where his collar had grown into his neck and a scar from this happening
previously and was extremely malnourished at only 40 pounds and heartworm
positive. He was taken to a veterinary clinic to be treated. I was called
and asked if I could take him into rescue. I had been doing Boxer rescue
for a couple of years and he was the worst I had seen to that point. I
brought him home on New Years Eve. He walked in the door and made himself
at home. He quickly began putting on weight and his neck healed nicely.
Within a month it was apparent that Lucas was in his forever home. Even
though he had had a very hard life he was one of the most loving souls
never meeting a stranger. Sadly, Lucas was only with us three short years
before we lost him to a brain tumor.
So if you're
thinking of adding a pet Boxer to your family please consider Boxer
Rescue.
