A N T H O L O G Y

These pages represent the written thoughts, dreams, and adventures of the Malicoats as they progress through this wonderful life. Diana has passed on, but she is still with us in many ways. Through our memories, we can relive the times of our lives together.  But we are about life, about the here and now.  We will add new chapters to this anthology as they occur.  These stories are from all of us and reflect our undying faith in the future.

News

- After long and soulful deliberation, Dave has placed his house up for sale.  The real estate market remains challenging to be sure, but it is time to move on.  Di and Dave made 4949 Cricklewood Lane in Charlotte their home for twenty eight years.   Dave plans to relocate to Gaston County to be nearer his family and bowling buddies.

- With so many destinations on the itinerary for this summer, attendance at the “Under Construction” workshop will be limited, but Dave plans to keep in touch with the group.  In the near term, a trip to hometown Plainfield, Indiana is in the works, with a stop along the way in Lake City, Tennessee.  While there, Dave plans to research a segment of the “Legacy” chronicle about the “Loyston Sea”.

- Dave has taken seriously his endeavor to chronicle the lives and loves of his family.  To that end, he has begun a writer’s workshop called “Under Construction” headed by a very dear friend, Maureen Ryan-Griffin.  Please see this link to her web site.    And now it’s time to fill out all of those wonderful ‘castles in the air’.  The first installment is called “Legacy”.

- It was bowling for fun this past weekend.  Chris and Dave went to Durham NC to participate in the USBCNC youth tournament.  Chris and Dakota placed in the two-man phase, while Chris and Ba (that’s Dave) made the finalist board in the adult/youth part.

- Short trips often turn out to be the most enlightening.  Only thirty miles from Charlotte, you can take a nice day hike on a mountain.  Here is my take, called “View from Crowders Mountain”.

- On the road again.  Chris, Ashley and Dave recently visited Washington DC.  They visited the Capitol Building, Smithsonian museums, and the war memorials.  Along the way home they stopped at Appomattox Court House to get a little Civil War history and drove down the Blue Ridge Parkway.

- Dave recently took a short trip in the Z down to Savannah GA for a little R&R.  What a marvelous city to just walk around in.  While there he got into some writing.  The latest of the Chronicles is called “Castles”.  Reprinted here by permission of a very special lady.

-  The 350Z is proving to be quite a ride.  Dave has taken her on numerous trips over the past six months.  These inspiring trips are being compiled into an anthology of experience called “The Sports Car Chronicles”.   Here’s a sampling.  Date with the Dragon”.

- Chris and Dave are getting geared up for another season of adventure with the SeaEagle kayaks.  They plan to follow up last year’s white water adventure on the Nolichucky River with a trip to the Nantahala River in May.

- Chris is now a 10th grader and Ashley is in 9th grade.  They both attend North Gaston High School in Dallas.
