The 1830 Ashe
County census shows
Solomon and his wife both as 20-30 years old.
He has two sons and one daughter, all under five
years of age.
The 1840 Ashe
County census shows two
more sons, one under five and the other 5-10.
There are also another two daughters, both under five, for a grand total
of six children.
The 1850 Watauga
County census shows a
household headed by 45 year old Elizabeth Tribit, who
appears to be Solomon’s widow. There is
an additional child, two year old Martha, for a total of seven children,
however only five are shown here. The
two oldest children, both boys, are no longer in the household. Close by is 22 year old Riley Tribit, who I assume is one of the two oldest boys.
A guess as to who was the other oldest boy is, is James W., found
living near Riley in the 1860 Watauga
County census. James is 35 years old living with his wife
and six children.
