This is Dorcas’ obituary from the Twin-City Sentinel, February 19, 1919:

 

Dorcas B. Trivette died at her home at No. 126 Spring Street after an illness lasting about three weeks with pneumonia and other complications.  Mrs. Trivette was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church and was an active church worker.  She had been living here for about fifteen years having moved from Harmony, Iredell county.  She was a splendid Christian woman and had many warm friends in this city and section. She is survived by eleven children, six brothers and one sister as follows:  Children - Leonard E., Donald B., and Wanchese, all of this city; James E. of Pasadena, Cal.; Fred, now with the American army in France; and Mesdames M.D. Cumbie, J.H. Warren, J.M. Doub, and J.T. Poindexter of this city, and Mrs. J.B. Hatcher of Charlotte; six brothers - Messrs.  J.T., A.W., C.C. Thorpe of Harmony, and Messrs. J.E., W.W. and R.V. Thorpe of Statesville; and one sister, Mrs. James Messick of Newcastle, Ind.

 

The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at nine o'clock at Brown Memorial Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Dr. H.A. Brown and Rev. Edmund Schwarze.  The interment will be at Holly Springs, Iredell County.
