Elsie was born August 17, 1909 in Jonancy, Kentucky. She attended Pikeville College. She married Curtis Cantrell. She and Curtis moved to Cincinnati in early 1930. A few months later, she died in a Cincinnati hospital of unstated causes, but possibly due to the effects of childbirth. The child, a son, survived. She was 21 years old.
