Emery was born October 8, 1866 in Ashe County, North Carolina, according to his Kentucky death certificate.

 

A marriage bond was entered in Pike County for E.E. Trivett and Mollie E. Damron.  He was a 22 year old school teacher.  She was 18 years old.  They were to be married on April 11, 1889 (52).

 

Another marriage bond was entered in Pike County for E.E. Trivett and Sarah Rich, a widow.  They were to be married on July 7, 1897 (52).

 

Emery died in Pike County, Kentucky on June 4, 1947 at age 80 years (45).

 

The 1900 Pike County, Kentucky lists Emery as an attorney.  The 1910 census shows him as a grocer.  Son Fred is still living with Emery and Sarah, and he is shown as a salesman for a grocery company, apparently that of his father.  Sarah’s occupation is “own shop.”

 

Emery’s obituary was published June 12, 1947 in the Paintsville Herald newspaper.  It stated that he had been in his early years a steamboat operator on the Big Sandy and Ohio Rivers.  He was a Republican and served two terms as mayor of Pikeville, two terms in the Kentucky House of Representatives, chairman of the Pike County Republican Executive Committee, postmaster of Pikeville, and assistant secretary of state.
