According to his World War I draft registration card, Linton was born April 28, 1884 in Pikeville, Pike County, Kentucky. He was a vice president of Pikeville National Bank. He died in Pike County, Kentucky on November 8, 1930 at age 46 (45). He died at Methodist Hospital in Pikeville three weeks after an appendectomy. Death was attributed to a blood infection. The November 13, 1930 issue of the Pike County News contained a front page picture and article regarding his death. Such treatment is usually reserved for very prominent citizens.
