Browser Hijacking - What is a BHO?

A BHO is a "Browser Hijacking Object." BHO's are software programs that are designed to "Hijack" your home page. Browser hijackers enter your computer as you surf the web, then maliciously direct your browser to another home page instead of the home page of your choice.

Resetting your home page in, for example, Internet Explorer's "Internet Options," will not stop this nasty intruder from once again resetting your home page. If you are unaware of browser hijackers and how they work, you are in for a very annoying internet experience should you encounter one of these pesky programs.

So what do you do if your home page is hihacked? One solution is to run Hijack This. Before doing so, it is highly recommend that you become informed about how Hijack This works. You can do this by visiting the above link or by clicking here. Before using any software that affects the Window's registry, you must know what you are doing. It is an absolute must to back up the registry prior to editing. Otherwise, you may delete a registry entry that your computer system needs, thereby doing harm, potentially great harm.

Hijack This is a freeware program.
