Magdalene Moore Column - The funeral for Curtis Lee Fleming, 19 years old was Sunday, p.m. November 21st at St. John Baptist Church, Rev. G. E. Jackson, minister. Mr. Fleming accidentally shot himself last Thursday on a hunting trip. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fleming of Latta.

Walter Byrd, 46, of the Oak Grove section was found dead in a woods fire near his home last Monday. Coroner Robert Rogers said the man died sometime last Monday afternoon. He said farmers who were working nearby saw the smoke and went to extinguish the fire. When they arrive, the coroner said, they found the body in the fire. The coroner said the man lived in a trailer behind the home of Dean Byrd. Rogers theorized the victim saw the fire and attempted to put it out, but his clothing caught fire.
