Deaths in the Magdalene Moore Column:

Mr. H. Hyman of Latta died Friday, January 14th, in a nursing home in Florence. He is the father of Mr. Phillip and Mrs. Alice Hyman of New York. Mr. Hyman once operated the Hyman lunch room here in town. He was a member of Weston Chapel A.M.E. Church, a member of the Steward Board. the senior choir and a retired class leader.

Funeral service was held for Mrs. Carrie Davis Monday afternoon, January 17th at Andrews Chapel Methodist Church, Rev. John Alsbrooks, Jr., Minister. Mrs. Davis is the mother of Mr. James Witherspoon and Mrs. Louise Gibbs, both of Latta.

Deaths in the Magdalene Moore Column:

Funeral service was held for Mr. Frank Toney, Sr. of Latta and New York, at Saint John Baptist Church, Monday afternoon, Rev. O. E. Jackson, Minister. Mr. Toney was a native of Florence. He made his home in Latta. He married the former Miss Luvenia Edwards of Latta. They reared a beautiful family. In their later years they moved to Brooklyn, NY where he died.

Funeral service was held for Mr. Willie Lee Smith of New York, Monday, January 31st in Andrews Chapel Methodist church in Latta, Re. John Alsbrook, Jr. pastor. Mr. Smith is the brother of Mrs. Fannie Graham and Mr. Harvey Smith both of New York.

Mrs. Lucinda Ervin died Friday morning in Sanders Memorial hospital in Florence. Funeral service was held Sunday, January 20th in Florence county. Mrs. Ervin had lived in Latta about 33 years until her sister in Florence, where she died and was buried. (as written)

Funeral service was held at Saint Stephen Methodist Church, in Dillon, January 30th for Mr. Joe Wheller. He was the husband of Mrs. Carrie Wheller. Mr. Wheller had many friends in South Carolina and the northern states who regret to know of his passing.

Miss Dorothy Haynes and Howard Anthony were married December 4th at St. Peter Clover Church, Brooklyn, NY, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Haynes of Brooklyn, NY.

Funeral service was held for Miss Bell Williams of Dillon last Sunday afternoon, March 6th at Saint Stephens Methodist Church in Dillon, Rev. J. W. Curry, Minister. Mrs. Williams was the mother of Mrs. Susie Edwards who is a teacher at the Latimer Elementary school.

The friends of Latta extend their deepest sympathy to Mr. Leo Smith (a taxi driver) of Dillon, whose mother died Monday morning, March 7th. Mrs. Smith lived in Little Rock.

Mrs. Bethea was found dead at her home, Monday, May 30th. She lived alone and was a very kind loving person and was devoted to her church.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Samuel A. Small of New York, NY, Monday, December 12 at Saint John Baptist Church, Rev. O. E. Jackson, Pastor. Mr. Small was a son of Mrs. Hester Small. He was born in 1922. Interment was in Jackson and Daughters Cemetery, Marion, SC.

Funeral services were held for Rev. C. J. James in Kingstree, SC, December 13th. Rev. James pastored at Andrews Chapel and Saint Philip Methodist Churches in Latta before going to Kingstree.
