“And what do I owe this visit for Sirius?” Remus asked leaning back in his chair and looking at his best friend with amusement “I didn’t even think you knew the research area existed let alone where it was” Sirius casually stuck his finger up at Remus as he sat down on the chair situated in front of his friend’s desk

“I need to talk to you” he stated, the tone of his voice wiping the smile off Remus’s face and making him focus on him with a searching look. He closed his folder and placed his quill down before crossing his arms and nodding

“Fire away” he said, Sirius took a deep breath looking more uncomfortable then Remus had ever seen him look before “Pads?” Sirius spoke

“I’ve made a mistake Remus and its not good” Remus blinked a few times, his gaze falling onto a picture of his wife which had been taken recently and showed her growing belly, the only other two pictures he had was one of his family and one of his best friends.

“Understand more” he repeated “Sirius is this like when you blew that girl up because she was annoying you that day a few summers ago or have you done something worse? I’m not going to be able to understand if you don’t tell me” Remus stated trying hard not to look worried, it was rare for Sirius to look like that and Remus didn’t like it anymore than he had the first time he had seen it.

“I mean you always warned me about this, told me to be careful but I just laughed it off I was the great Sirius Black, adopted son of Jonathan and Maris Potter, a Marauder, everyone wanted to be me and now.. I thought it would be safe Remus, I thought I’d be safe”

“What are you talking about Pads?” Remus asked sternly trying to resist the impulse to get up and shake the answers out of his friend

“I slept with Melissa Phillips Moons… the girl I had a relationship with at Hogwarts my longest relationship ever” Remus nodded slowly still unsure where this was leading “Well she’s pregnant with my child Remus and I don’t know what to do” Remus blinked a few times trying to understand the words

“Pregnant” he repeated “You got a girl pregnant” he stopped shaking his head and biting his tongue, shouting at Sirius wasn’t going to change anything “Have you spoken to her?” Sirius nodded

“She came round my flat earlier on today and broke the news to me; she told me she was keeping it because it wasn’t the child’s fault and that I can have anything I want when it comes to it. I’m only 22 though why would I want a child, my career is hitting off here and the brooms are selling like anything, you should see how much money your shares are making you Remus”

“That’s good” Remus said absently before turning the subject back to the root “As for having a child at 22, how old do you think I am? There will be only 4 months odd between our children and James was 21 when Harry was born” he shook his head “Do you want anything to do with your child?” Sirius shook his head

“Not really” he admitted “I hate it Remus, its 2 months and its already fucked my life up beyond measure, everything I worked for its destroyed just by being there” he shook his head “Keeley will never want me back now” Remus looked slightly alarmed

“You don’t mean that about it Sirius, it’s a child it’s not its fault. And Keeley…” he stopped looking uncomfortable, he had refused to know the reason why they split up and now it would appear he was going to know anyway

“I think I do Remus and it’s not something I’m proud of every time I think of it, it makes me sick to my stomach I mean me and Keeley had been discussing getting back together and now…” he stopped

“Pads please I don’t know what you want you need me to do” he said looking at his friend with a helpless expression, this was probably one of the worse things he had to endure and Remus had nothing to say.

“Remus you’ve always been the wise one of us and you managed to make a life regardless I mean you married the girl of your dreams you’re having twins with her, Jonathan’s made it possible that you can support her and I…” he stopped searching his friends eyes before plastering a smile on his face “sorry you’re busy and at work and I shouldn’t have come and bothered you” He gave Remus a smile that didn’t reach his eyes which remained bleak and left the room.

Remus blinked for a few seconds trying to recover from the shock that Sirius was going to be a father. He got to his feet and hurried after his friend trying hard to ignore the aches and the stab of pain from his weary body as he shouted down the empty corridor at his friend’s retreating back

“Sirius Tallesin Morgan Black you stop right this very second, full moon was only 3 nights ago and I don’t have the energy to run after you, you bastard. He watched in satisfaction as Sirius’s brisk pace immediately slowed to a stop and he turned round just as Remus skidded to a halt, leaning against the wall and breathing hard.

“Moons it’s fine, I’ll figure this shit out myself…”

“Sirius don’t you dare spurt that crap at me” Remus interrupted holding his side gingerly “You obviously need help or you wouldn’t have come here, I’m offering you that so bloody swallow your pride and accept it” Sirius blinked at Remus then smiled slightly

“I knew I came to you for a reason, thanks Moony you’re great just let me know if you don’t want to hear anymore ok?” he said, Remus nodded

“Definitely” he said “Come on we might as well go and get some coffee and Diagon alley, I’m in charge today so…” he let his sentence trail off and shot a mischievous look at Sirius who smiled in response. They made their way through the endless corridors and to the floo stations and within 5 minutes they found themselves sitting at a table basking in the September sunshine as they waited for their coffees “So” Remus said “Tell me everything” he stated looking expectantly at the younger boy. Sirius nodded looking almost nervous

“So where would you like me to start?” he asked looking nervous his brain trying to pinpoint exactly when it had all occurred. Remus shrugged

“Well how did she end up at your house for a start” he stopped and looked up thoughtful “Is she still as pretty as I remember her being Pads?” he asked casually his eyes looking extremely thoughtful. Sirius thought back to the rosy face with its large blue eyes and warm smile and flushed dropping his eyes awkwardly

“She’s ok” he said.
