Follow the directions given to learn some formatting tools in Microsoft Word.
Step 1:
Click the start button, scroll to Programs, and open Microsoft Word.
Type your first and last name into the page, then highlight the words using your mouse.
Move the mouse cursor over the buttons at the top of the page until you see the large letter B and click on it.
With your name still highlighted, move the mouse cursor over the buttons at the top until you see the large letter I that looks slanted and click on it.
Again, move the mouse cursor over the buttons until you see the large letter U and click on it.
You have now made your name bold, italicized, and underlined!
Step 2:
Making sure your name is highlighted, move the mouse cursor over the buttons at the top of the screen until you see several small lines in the middle of the button (a small yellow tool tip may pop up that says Center), click on this button.
With your name still highlighted, move the mouse cursor over the buttons again until you see several small lines in the right side of the button (a small yellow tool tip may pop up that says Align Right), click on this button.
Now move the mouse cursor over the buttons again until you see several small lines in the left side of the button (a small yellow tool tip may pop up that says Align Left), click on this button.
You have now changed the alignment of the words from left to center, right, and then back to left again! This can be done for one word, a whole sentence, or even a whole page of words.
Step 3:
With your name highlighted, move the mouse cursor over the buttons at the top of the page until you see a large rectangle with a word or words inside of it (a small yellow tool tip may pop up that says Font), the words Times New Roman or Arial may be in this box, click on the small arrow on the right side of this box that is pointing downward.
When you see the list of different fonts drop down, scroll through them until you see a font called Comic Sans MS, click on this font name.
With your name still highlighted, move the mouse cursor over the buttons again until you see the small rectangle next to the font name that just has a number inside of it (a small yellow tool tip may pop up that says Font Size), the number 10 or 12 may be inside this box, click on the small arrow on the right side of this box that is pointing downward.
When you see the list of numbers drop down, scroll through them until you see the number 48, click on this number.
You have just changed the font style of your name from the default look to Comic Sans MS and changed the size of the words to 48 point font!
If there is still time remaining, type a few more words and experiment with using these formatting buttons to change the words around on the page. When time is up, just close Microsoft Word by clicking on the small red X in the top right corner of the window. When the computer asks you if you want to save the document, just click No.
